How does the author connect the river’s geography with the modern debate between Georgia, Alabama, and Florida about current water use in “The Chattahoochee River"?

Answers

Answer: He connects them by remarking that the Chattahoochee River passes through Georgia, Alabama, and Florida, places where there are also problems with how the river's water is used and its distribution.

Explanation: Georgia, Alabama, and Florida have been in a long-time war to fight over which place gets the best water distribution. Each place wants different things, such as having enough water to grow and having high river flows, as well as avoiding the misuse of it by another place. The author connects both topics by describing that the Chattahoochee River goes through many places and connects eventually with Georgia, Alabama, and Florida, to continue later on with its course.

Soon there was even worse news for Neto and Jesse. Most of the players who had voted not to play had suddenly changed their minds. Even the Hispanic players. They could barely look at Neto and Jesse as they explained that they loved football too much to give it up. In the end, only four players—Jesse, Neto, Rigo Delgudillo, and Johnny Garcia—were committed to staying off the field.

The more Neto thought about it, the more determined he became. "I knew we were right," he recalls. "I didn't care what anybody else thought. And I also knew the team couldn't afford to lose me. If the school really wanted me, the fans had to stop saying those things. Only then would I play. Not until."

Which statement best describes the change in Neto since the beginning of the conflict?

Neto realizes that he loves football too much to give it up.
Neto is determined to stay off the field until the conflict is resolved.
Neto decides that he no longer likes to play football.
Neto becomes angry with the other players for playing in the game.

Answers

Answer:

the Answer is: B

B) Neto is determined to stay off the field until the conflict is resolved.

Explanation:

The correct statement is " Neto is determined to stay off the field until the conflict is resolved." The correct option is B.

What is an excerpt?

An excerpt is a short passage or section taken from a longer piece of writing such as a book, article, or speech. The purpose of an excerpt is to highlight and showcase a specific part of the writing for a particular purpose, such as to provide an example, support an argument, or to give a brief introduction or overview of the larger work. An excerpt can be used to convey the style, tone, and themes of the original work, and it is often chosen to represent the most important or interesting parts of the writing. Excerpts can be found in various forms of media such as books, magazines, newspapers, and online articles.

Here in the question,

This can be inferred from the excerpt where Neto says, "I also knew the team couldn't afford to lose me. If the school really wanted me, the fans had to stop saying those things. Only then would I play. Not until." This statement shows that Neto is not willing to compromise his values and principles, and he is committed to staying off the field until the conflict is resolved.

Option A, "Neto realizes that he loves football too much to give it up," is not an accurate description of Neto's change. Although Neto acknowledges that he loves football, he is not willing to compromise his values and principles for the sake of playing the game.

Option C, "Neto decides that he no longer likes to play football," is also not true. Neto still loves football, but he is committed to staying off the field until the conflict is resolved.

Option D, "Neto becomes angry with the other players for playing in the game," is not supported by the information in the excerpt. While Neto is disappointed that most of the players have changed their minds, there is no indication that he becomes angry with them.

Therefore, The correct option is B.

This is the thesis to an essay: “Both the short story ‘Flowers for Algernon’ and the essay ‘Fish Cheeks’ have the theme that it is normal to want to fit in with others.” Which quote from “Flowers for Algernon” would you choose to support this thesis?

“I told them becaus all my life I wantid to be smart and not dumb. But its very hard to be smart.”
“We had a lot of fun at the factory today. Joe Carp said hey look where Charlie had his operashun what did they do Charlie put some brains in.”
“Even a feeble-minded man wants to be like other men. A child may not know how to feed itself, or what to eat, yet it knows of hunger.”
“please tell Dr Nemur not to be such a grouch when pepul laff at him and he woud have more frends.”

Answers

Answer:

“Even a feeble-minded man wants to be like other men. A child may not know how to feed itself, or what to eat, yet it knows of hunger.”

Explanation:

Generally, when we want someone close to us, we want to treat that person well, since their presence makes us happy and comfortable. That way we want the other person to also feel happy and comfortable with our presence.

However, the quote shown above shows a situation where people want a specific individual close to them, however, they want to treat that individual badly. They want to make jokes, make fun and expose the insecurities of that individual as a joke. So, this quote is the perfect example to support the essay thesis that states that although "Flowers for Algernon" and "Fish Cheeks" meet people's desire to fit in with other people, only "Flowers for Algernon" conveys the theme that people generally treat those who are different poorly.

The first excerpt, about testing the water samples, says that the scientists are performing this experiment at midnight, which is very late. it also says that the net must be lowered to a specific depth. The second excerpt describes people trying to sort krill and other organisms, but it is very difficult for them to do so, as the floor and the water in the plate keep moving.

Explanation:

Nila, a young girl of 14 is a student of class 9 of Noapara Girls’ High school, Noapara. She was a poor girl but had an aspiration to help her family for a better life. On her way to school, a boy named Alam used to tease her very often. But she didn’t get frustrated rather.

Rather she used to ignore him most of the times. She believed in the good of the world and thought maybe someday Alam would come to his senses and realize that what he was doing was wrong. She didn’t have the time to do anything anyway as she was more concerned about her future. The boy did not change his behavior still.

One day, when she had had enough, and decided to talk to Alam. She asked him why he used to tease her every day. The boy did not know how to answer. Nila told him that she had to study hard so that one day she can support her family and earn a name for herself in this world. The boy was still at a loss of words and he ran away.

The next day some other boys came to tease her and just as she reached there Alam scared away the other boys. He told Nila he understood her struggles as he faced problems at home too. The two of them started helping each other. Nila helped him with his studies and he protected her. Thus they both became friends.

Write a narrative nonfiction story

Not sure about a word count but... here:

I used to have a pet guinea pig named Pumpkin, but it had gotten sick and died. I don't quite remember the exact dialogue, but this is more or less what was said.

"Is it dead?" My brother prodded the tiny little body with the tip of his index finger, a deep furrow between his dark, shaggy brows.

"I don't know," I answered, pinching my nose between my thumb and forefinger. The little guinea pig's beady black eyes glittered under the beam of the flashlight as we peered into its cage. Its brown body fell limp in his hands as he scooped it up. I've never know Pumpkin to play dead. And if she was playing, she was certainly good at it. She even smelled dead.

"You KILLED PUMPKIN!!" he shrieked, the body now dangling from his shaking hands. He dropped our pet on the floor and, tears streaming down his cheeks, disappeared into the kitchen. I stood alone in the living with our dead pet, wondering what if there was anything I could say or do to console my little brother. Sobs came from the kitchen.

My brother had spent almost everyday in front of the cage, staring with wide eyes at Pumpkin, playing with her and talking to her as he were if expecting her to offer a response.  He'd spent so much time with her, in fact, there was a little divot in the carpet in front of her cage where he'd stood every single day after hopping off the schoolbus in the afternoons. They'd bonded in a way that the normal people in our family could understand; Pumpkin had captured a piece of his heart I'd only ever managed to brush with the tips of my fingers. From day one, Pumpkin was the one he would confide in, ask for advice, and tell his jokes to. Which, I'd told myself, didn't bother me because, quite frankly, his jokes sucked anyway.

When Dad got home, he helped us bury Pumpkin in the backyard near the vegetable garden, right next to the now-weltering heads of lettuce she used to eat off of back in July whenever Mom wasn't watching.

"You were my best friend, Pumpkin, and if LACEY hadn't fed you spoiled food, you wouldn't be dead. If you come back to haunt somebody, haunt HER," said my brother, kneeling over the grave. Dad and I watched in silence.

"I miss you already," he continued, "and I hope you'll be comfortable here."

I was the one who'd named Pumpkin, fed her, lined her cage, and brushed the tangles out of her fur. So, I got to choose where she would be buried. And so Pumpkin's body lie in the shade of our little willow tree, her grave surrounded by yellow dandelions hand-picked from the front yard (which hadn't been hard, since our yard was choking with them). Her headstone, which Dad had whittled from wood, stuck up from the freshly overturned earth, in which we'd carved her name and a simple little message: We love you.

From Pumpkin's little spot, she would be shaded from the sun, sheltered from the snow, and lightly sprinkled with rain. From her grave, she would enjoy the sunshine and marvel at the colors of the leaves as the seasons changed, just as we did. Because although she was no longer with us, she will always hold a place in our hearts as a member of our family, and in our eyes, she was just as big as everybody else.

I have been a nurse for twenty years. In that time, I have seen a great number of patients suffer because they did not have health insurance. One of the worst cases was a young mother of two who was diagnosed with early stage skin cancer. Because she could not afford treatment, the cancer spread from her skin to other parts of her body. By the time I saw her for the first time, the cancer had reached her brain, and she could no longer be helped. This sort of thing should not happen to anyone. A strong universal health care system could prevent instances like this from occurring.

What is Artificial Intelligence?

Artificial intelligence uses computers and technology to simulate the human mind's problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Scientists at Dartmouth College came to this conclusion after developing artificial intelligence algorithms capable of producing sonnets. The findings were compared to poems produced by humans by the judges. In every case, the judges were able to locate the sonnet generated by a computer program.

The year-long competition was a twist on the Turing Test, named after British computer scientist Alan Turing, who suggested an experiment in 1950 to see if computers might gain human-like intelligence. The results were released last week. Therefore, it can be concluded that option C is correct.
